TheInsurTechLawyer was recently on assignment to Germany and the UK. There were many people to meet and lots to see, this article just provides a snippet into the whirlwind trip.
Read more: A recent visit to Deutschland…This was going to be my first time visiting the offices of Hannover Re in Hannover. But alas, coming all the way from Australia, it was not possible to fly direct into Hannover straight away. First, a short stop in Frankfurt where I ended up taking the train to a beautiful town called Wiesbaden, the capital of the state of Hesse.
After seeing the sights of Wiesbaden, it was time to visit my friends at Hannover Re. Hannover Re is one of the world’s largest reinsurers, and its offices are spread out in Hannover.
On this trip, I was visiting a fellow Aussie who now works at Hannover Re in Hannover. Nothing quite like visiting an Aussie abroad. Although he has been living in Hannover for almost a year, he has encountered less than a handful of Aussies in his time here.
During this trip, I was also lucky enough to visit London. I was taken on a tour of Lloyd’s, which had only just opened after major renovations to its underwriting room. A visit to the Lloyd’s building is an insurance nerd’s dream come true, only made better by the fact that this time my tour guide was none other than Reg Brown, one of the veterans of the industry. He certainly had lots of stories share.
All in all, this was a very productive trip. It is always nice to feel connected to the industry globally and meet so many people interested in insurance and InsurTech!
